Chicken Nuggets with Skillet Gnocchi Stix

Ingredients

  • 1 large, boneless skinless chicken breast (about 7 oz/210 g)
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) each onion powder, garlic powder and paprika
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) each salt and dried oregano leaves (approx.)
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) all-purpose flour (approx..)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups (500 mL) cornflakes, crushed (approx.)
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) butter
  • 1 pkg (280 g) Olivieri® Skillet Gnocchi Stix™

Chicken Nuggets with Skillet Gnocchi Stix

Instructions

  • CUBE chicken and place in a food processor.

    Step 1

  • ADD cream cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, oregano and pepper. Process into a uniform chunky paste.

    Step 2

  • ARRANGE flour, eggs and crushed cornflakes in separate bowls.

    Step 3

  • FORM small portions of chicken mixture into nuggets; lightly coat in flour followed by egg and crushed cornflakes. Repeat to make 12 to 14 nuggets. (Discard any leftover coating ingredients.)

    Step 4

  • ARRANGE nuggets in an air fryer basket; air fry at 400°F, turning once, for 12 minutes or until golden and fully cooked.

    Step 5

  • MEANWHILE, MELT butter in a non-stick skillet set over medium-high heat.

    Step 6

  • ADD Olivieri® Skillet Gnocchi Stix™; sauté for 5 minutes or until gnocchi are golden brown. Remove from heat.

    Step 7

  • SEASON nuggets with additional salt and oregano (if desired); serve with gnocchi alongside.

    Tasty Tips:

    • For extra crispy nuggets, lightly coat with propellant-free cooking oil spray before cooking.
    • Alternately bake nuggets on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 minutes.
    • Serve nuggets and gnocchi with your favourite dipping sauces such as ketchup, plum sauce or honey mustard.

For this recipe, tomato ketchup does the job! Is there any other sauce that pairs so well with chicken nuggets? And since our Gnocchi Sitx have a shape similar to French fries, using ketchup makes even more sense.

That said, there are other flavours to go for if your taste buds want something different. Chicken nuggets and Gnocchi Stix can also be dipped into barbecue sauce, sour cream, mayonnaise or even a sweet and sour sauce.
